Kapahulu Dental Center opened its doors to its first patients over 50 years ago. Founded by Dr. Kenneth S. Minato, this quaint country-like practice in the heart of Kapahulu continues to operate today in what was once Dr. Minato’s childhood home. Throughout his long career, Dr. MInato dedicated his professional life to his patient’s care. Later, when he left the day to day activities of the dental office, many new and long-time patients would still find themselves sharing a friendly story with him. He made sure to check in regularly with the office. His long time dedication to dentistry and his expertise made him an invaluable resource even in retirement. He continued to be a part of our team as our lead consultant, until 2011, when he sadly lost a sudden battle with cancer.
Before he transitioned into quasi-retirement, Dr. Minato carefully selected Dr. Ryan Koichi Frasco to lead the team. Since 2005, Dr. Frasco, and Kapahulu Dental Center’s mission has remained the same; to provide outstanding patient care through exceptional functional and aesthetic dentistry; and to continue fostering the bonds of trust and friendship with patients.
Similar to his predecessor, Dr. Frasco also lived on property during the beginning stages of his career at Kapahulu Dental Center. At that time, he and his wife were raising their young son and enjoying a pedestrian lifestyle that immersed them into the community. Kapahulu is home to a diverse population, where trending eateries and shops are nestled amongst longtime multigenerational family stores and homes. Although Dr. Frasco no longer lives on property, the office is his second home. In addition to seeing him as your dentist, you may see him as your neighbor, doing yard work and other TLC maintenance to the property.
At Kapahulu Dental Center, we are mindful of our beginnings. We move forward with this mindfulness and strive to nurture an ‘ohana style of patient care that was begun by Dr. Minato over 50 years ago. Thank you for considering Kapahulu Dental Center.
